State Railway of Thailand (SRT) - Thailand - ASLIP 2024

I am engaged in Business Development in the Property Management Division of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), emphasising sustainable urban planning and transportation initiatives. I conduct market research, enhance revenue streams, and develop comprehensive strategies for SRT land areas to elevate the sustainability and quality of life in urban regions across Thailand.

What were the highlights and key takeaways from ASLIP 2024?

ASLIP 2024 provided attendees with a number of important takeaways, including a deeper understanding of the framework for a net-zero economy and the critical role that resilient infrastructure plays in achieving desired levels of sustainability. For the purpose of reaching net-zero emissions, the initiative highlighted the interrelationships between several sectors and emphasized the need for collaboration across these sectors.  In addition to this, it considered innovative approaches to the creation of infrastructure that place an emphasis on climate resilience and long-term sustainability.  A significant amount of my approach to sustainable development has been influenced by this all-encompassing perspective on resilient infrastructure and economies that are net-zero.

How have you integrated the knowledge and skills you've gained into your current role?

My strategy for sustainable growth at SRT, the State Railway of Thailand, has been much improved thanks to the ASLIP 2024 initiative. I gained significant insights on how to incorporate sustainability issues into our operations from the program's extensive curriculum on sustainable urban planning and transportation.  My experience in market research, income optimization, and the creation of SRT land area master plans has allowed me to put these ideas into practice. To that end, I must advocate for and support Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) initiatives that maximize the positive effects on society, the economy, and infrastructure by making the most efficient use of available space and boosting the use of public transportation. The goal of SRT is to improve Thailand's transportation system by making it more efficient and environmentally friendly, and this strategy fits in with that goal.

What advice would you offer future participants to help them make the most of their experience?

Take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to expand your understanding of the ideas underlying the net-zero principle and sustainability. By using strong connections, you may gain useful insights from renowned experts, communicate with a diverse set of people from ASEAN and the United Kingdom, and form meaningful partnerships. Working with professionals from Southeast Asia and the United Kingdom gave me important insights into their unique perspectives and issues, which considerably improved my experience. Enjoy this chance to improve your professional abilities, broaden your viewpoint, and contribute to the long-term success of the industry you work in.
